Deep in the heart of England

-Lives a legend-

Today we had breakfast at Caffè Nero. I had mango green tea and some porridge. We then got in the car and drove for about 45 minutes from Nottingham town to Sherwood Forest!

This is me in the forest;

These are some statues I saw by the forest. The first is of Robin, and the second is Robin and Little John fighting when they first met.

We saw the Major Oak tree which is supposedly where Robin Hood and his Merry Men lived for some time. Apparently King Charles II also hid in this tree! The roots of the tree spread four times the width of the canopy!

One of the signs by the forest mentioned a miller’s son named Much. I thought that this was interesting because as I understood it, the BBC Robin Hood writers made up the character of Much as Robin’s manservant. Maybe they based him off this Much!

Here are some more photos from the forest. It’s quite dark inside the forest, but I decided not to edit the photos so that you can see what it actually looks like in all its beauty!

  1. Do you know how old the oak tree is? I see some of the branches are supported by steel. It must be an important tree!
    Great photos of the Forest. It looks very mysterious, and outlawish!!
