Repatriation!

On August 11, my family and I began our journey back to Australia. In order to even get on the plane, we needed to have two negative PCR tests which all came back clear.

We stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Heathrow Airport on the night of the 10th, as we had moved out of our house in London. I woke up at 4:30 on the Wednesday morning in order to get ready, check out of the hotel, go through customs, security and get our temperature checked. After getting through all of that, we were given specific face masks to wear on the plane.

Once we had boarded the aircraft, we were given a biohazard bag to dispose of used face masks, as well as another 10 face masks to wear, and some hand sanitiser. The plane leg was directly from London to Darwin, meaning a very very long flight. Because it was a government repatriation flight with reduced services, only two small meals were provided, neither of which I was able to eat! After watching two Avengers movies and many failed attempts at sleeping over the 20 hours, we finally arrived in Darwin. We went through customs and baggage reclaim, before getting on the coach to Howard Springs quarantine facility.

The coach was nearly an hour long, but we got to see lots of Darwin which was great, and Dad showed us lots of places he used to go to when he lived in Darwin.
